What a great piece. Men get stuck in the need to appear strong and never get opportunity to process childhood grief, pain or trauma. Women have friends and open communication styles and a general societal acceptance of showing more emotion. Generalising of course.
I took sack loads of books to a local library once when I moved country. It’s freeing. A book represents a small snapshot of who you were at the period of life when you read it - but you can never get that back again so you don’t need to keep the book. I have an annual cull of belongings to keep the ‘weight’ light. Not as easy with emotional weight 😊
That said, I've found healing spaces to skew feminine and while this makes them 'safer', there is stuff that only emerges 'among men.' Haven't fully formed my thoughts but there's a reason why 'men's work' has become a thing.
Love the annual culling! Feeling inspired to tread more lightly :)
This is so beautifully written and woven together. I read it 3x. Let it wash over me. The pain, the self-censoring, the “I know joy is hiding here somewhere.” I’m so delighted to read it in its truth. I loved the end as well. Thank you.

Keep going ❤️ Drop those weights!
Thanks Mona, and thank you for your writing. Let's make friends with the sorrow and move with ease :)
Don’t throw away Dalio!
Oh no, not throwing any of these away. But selling and giving away many.

Women are indeed our teachers in this regard.

Sending you a HUG and lots of LOVE.
Remember The WEIGHT is all in your HEAD.
Your problem is you CARE too much and THINK to MUCH.
If you CARE you have to BARE your SOUL and suck in the PAIN of the WORLD.
Thinking is a sign you are a REAL Human being - You are becoming one of the RARE Ones !

Can we care too much? About things.. yes. But about each other? :)
Sending much love right back!
So many questions, is journalling a form of writing comprising of mainly unanswered questions ?
YES, we can care too much.
Caring too much for things, thats our own responsibility and possibly stupidity.
Caring for other people is a mirror on our relationship with them.
The pain of unreciprocated care is known to every parent watching there children grow up to the point where they no longer need their parents.
It’s just so hard to switch off that care and you are exposed and bare to there process of learning to care.
So many questions, is journalling a style of writing that is composed of questions ?
